The Language Arts Department at UHS focuses on every aspect of communication. Both the curriculum and the instructional process are designed to enhance the communications process. Curriculum includes reading, writing, viewing, listening, and presentation skills. Various strategies such as cooperative learning, inquiry, simulations, projects, and technology use are all part of the process for students to become effective communicators in the world. As students are exposed to many forms of writing practice and literature, they are encouraged to become engaged in the search for more knowledge in whatever area is of interest to them.
