UINTAH HIGH SCHOOL DANCE DRESS CODE

2007-2008

In general, Uintah High School Student Council considers Semi-formal as a step below formal. A Semi-formal dance or event is a dressy occasion, and a higher standard of dress applies to all who attend, including students, chaperons, administration, ticket takers, photographers, and other staff and visitors as called for by the dance or event organizers.


GIRLS' SEMI-FORMAL DRESS

  • Attire could be something a student can wear for other dressy occasions.
  • Only girls may wear dresses.
  • The dresses may be strapless or feature spaghetti straps.
  • Open backs are acceptable to middle of back with no undergarments showing, however, bare midriffs or exposed sides are not permitted.
  • Undergarments should not be visible.
  • See-through apparel is not permitted.
  • Clothing that is extremely tight or extremely low-cut are also unacceptable.
  • Cleavage is not to be visible at any time.
  • Skirt length or slit length can be no higher than 3” above the middle of the knee.
  • Nice, clean shoes are required, and must be worn throughout the dance.
  • Bare feet will not be allowed.
  • Jeans and shorts of any kind are not permitted.
  • No costumes of any kind are permitted.

BOYS' SEMI-FORMAL DRESS

  • Only boys may wear pants, dress slacks, khakis, or tuxedos (formal event).
  • Boys should wear dress slacks, corduroys, black, gray, tan wranglers, or khakis.
  • Boys should wear shirts with a collar, and a bow or necktie.
  • Tie must stay on for duration of dance.
  • Shirts must remain tucked in at all times.
  • Suit coats and vests are also appropriate for this occasion.
  • Nice, clean shoes and boots are acceptable.
  • Jeans and shorts of any kind are not permitted.
  • No costumes of any kind are permitted.

CASUAL DANCE DRESS

Uintah High School Handbook Dress Code applies.

DANCE CODE

  • Dance that is commonly known as 'dirty dancing' or 'bump and grind' where close physical contact of a suggestive sexual nature is not permitted.
  • No freaking will be allowed (several students dancing nearly on top of one another).
  • No front to back dancing.
  • No inappropriate touching.
  • No sexual connotation or provocative dancing whatsoever with either gender.
  • D.J.'s will be asked to stop the music if dancing becomes inappropriate and the administration reserves the right to stop the dance and send students home.
  • Students receive one warning. A second offense will result in expulsion from the dance with no refund of ticket price, and student will lose the privilege of participating in the next dance. Parents/Guardians will be notified by phone numbers provided.
  • All dancing will be tasteful in nature. We expect your support and good judgment to maintain appropriate dancing at all times.

Chaperons

Minimum 10 Adults

  • 1 Administrator
  • 4 Teachers - Spouses are welcome but do not count as chaperons.
  • 4 Parents
  • 1 Police Officer
Chaperon's list must be confirmed and submitted to the Principal two weeks before the dance.  If list is not submitted on time the dance will be canceled.

The administration and faculty will make ALL final judgments on the appropriateness of questionable attire. Costumes or anything that might make a mockery of the occasion are not acceptable.

ATTENTION STUDENTS: it is your responsibility to inform your date of the dress regulations.

Regrettably anyone who does not adhere to these guidelines will not be admitted to the dance. Refunds on pre-purchased tickets will not be given.
